Funding for NCVYS members

The Department of Health has announced that it will be providing £6m for Volunteering Fund National Awards. This will support volunteering projects in health and social care centred around one of four themes – patient led NHS, delivering better health outcomes, improving public health or improving health and social care. Funding worth around £200,000 each year for the next 3 years has been awarded to NCVYS members YMCA England, Platform 51 and Mencap. YMCA England will train ‘Young Health Champions’ who will mentor other vulnerable young people and to influence local health providers so that services are suitable for the needs of young people.

The Big Lottery Fund (BIG) has awarded nearly £30m towards support for England’s most vulnerable groups of young people – young carers and young people leaving the care system or youth offending institutions. Funding has been awarded to 30 partnerships including NCVYS members Fairbridge, Endeavour, Brathay Trust and a number of YMCAs.
