Skills – Third Sector

Third Sector magazine has reported that Skills – Third Sector, the sector skills body set up in 2008 to help make sure that charities and social enterprises have the right people with the right skills to make a difference to people and their communities, has had its funding halved to £500,000. The Office for Civil Society and the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, an agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, have agreed to provide £250,000 each this year. From 2008 to 2011, the BIS and the OCS provided £750,000 and £250,000 a year respectively.  The organisation has created a national skills strategy and devised plans to increase the number of charity apprenticeships.
