Mentoring and befriending cuts


The Mentoring and Befriending Foundation has published Funding for mentoring and befriending: Impact of spending cuts on the survival and sustainability of projects across the UK. The organisation’s survey of 144 mentoring and befriending projects revealed that spending cuts in 2011-12 are likely to impact on 72% of projects.  This compares to 44% in 2010-11.

Additionally, it showed that 62% of projects saw a greater demand for their service from users over the last financial year and this is set to increase next year with 79% anticipating greater demand for their services. 20% of the survey respondents were organisations who worked with students and 10% worked with looked after children and young people.
