Cuts to VCS criminal justice services

NCVYS member Clinks have released findings from their new report Changing Times, Challenging Times. The report reveals that voluntary and community sector organisations working to prevent and reduce crime are losing vital funding in the face of multiple challenges and growing demand for their services. From a survey of 99 chsrities in Winter 2010, Clinks found that 68% of organisations have made staff redundant or are about to do so. More than three quarters have had grant income reduced already. 83% reported an increase in the number of people seeking their help. Clinks Chair, Dame Anne Owers, said: “These organisations are essential partners in contributing to crime reduction and rehabilitation. The future cost of losing these services in terms of damaged lives and increased offending is enormous.
