Dorset, Hull and Brent

Dorset Youth Association has lost £400,000 from central government, local government and other non-departmental public bodies. This means that 25% of staff contracts end on 31st March and a further 25% are at risk.

NCVYS member Hull Council for Voluntary Youth Services has lost its Service Level Agreement with the local authority. This loss of core funding has led to the loss of one part time staff member, which means there is no support, newsletter or updates for 200 voluntary youth organisations and the 12,500 young people that they work with.

Sexual Health on Call in Brent has lost £80,000, which has lead to the complete withdrawal of an advice and support service for young people in 9 schools, PRUs and FE colleges. The service provided interventions on sexual health, drug use and mental health, but has  had to make a nurse and drugs worker redundant, “despite the overwhelming success of the project over 2 years.”
