Government funding for the VCS

The Ministry of Justice has announced £29.4m in funding over three years for civil society organisations which support vulnerable victims of crime. Up to £10.5m will go directly to rape crisis centres as part of the government’s commitment to increasing the provision of rape crisis centres across England and Wales.

The Ministry of Justice is also providing a programme of grant funding to working to reduce reoffending. The programme seeks to ensure the existence of a collaborative, accountable and effective national infrastructure representing and supporting diverse civil society organisations working to reduce reoffending.

The Home Office has announced more than £18m to tackle knife, gun and gang crime. £4m will support a ‘communities against gangs, guns and knives’ fund – for local voluntary organisations across England and Wales and £10m has been set aside to fund activities with young people identified as being at risk of becoming involved in crime.
