Worcestershire, Sheffield and Lewisham

The Children and Young People’s Empowerment Project in Sheffield is expecting a reduction of over £170,000 in its contracts, which will see 3 staff lose their posts and two reduced to half-time in April 2011. They face closure by September unless grant applications are successful. Work with BME young women, refugee and asylum seekers will be lost, and there are no similar groups in Sheffield.

NCVYS member Worcestershire Council for Voluntary Youth Services will see all its current funding (£214,000) end from 31st March 2011. This includes the v involve programme, Play Fund from local authority and CWDC funding for workforce development in the voluntary sector.

Lewisham Council will end all funding for its Connexions service, which gives information and advice for young people aged 13-19, on 31 March 2011, with all staff made redundant.
