Letter to PM defending youth services

The BYC and the union Unite have worked together to produce a letter defending youth services to Prime Minister David Cameron, which has been signed by nearly 2,000 young people. The letter states that they are “deeply concerned about the impact [the] government’s spending cuts are already having on our youth services.” The letter highlights a number of areas, including Essex, Central Bedfordshire, Stockport and Somerset, where “deep cuts are already ripping the youth service apart”. It also notes that “the cost of jailing one young offender is up to £100,000 a year, but current spending that helps keep young people out of trouble is just £100 a year, per person.”
