Youth Action organisations

NCVYS member Youth Action Network has surveyed its members to find out where Youth Action will be in April 2010. YAN has a membership of around 100 organisations – all of them supporting young people to volunteer and seeking to promote a youth-led approach – who represent a significant portion of the youth volunteering sector.

YAN’s survey in June 2010 asked members about their current situation in terms of funding, staffing and delivery – and how they foresaw the future. The responses of the 45 organisations who participated suggest that funding for youth action will decrease from £45.8m in 2010 to £11.5m in 2011. There will be a decrease from 792 to 170 of workers supporting young volunteers. Assuming that the ratio of workers to young volunteers stays the same, this will mean a reduction from 400,000 to 86,000 in young volunteers who are supported to volunteer.
