The Department for Education has announced it will provide £134m to ensure 57 projects promised funding under the Myplace programme can continue as planned. Since 2008, the Myplace scheme has given 70 youth centres a share of £270m. 12 centres have already opened across the country, but 31 are currently under construction and 26 are yet to have their plans rubber-stamped.

CYP Now has reported that the Salmon Youth Centre in Bermondsey, south London, an early recipient of a Myplace grant, faces an 80% loss of funding next year and plans to halve staff numbers as a result.
