Surrey County Council is trying to cut its £15.4m spend for young people’s services by £2.1m in year. The assistant director for young people at Surrey county council estimates that the budget will reduced to £10m over the next couple of years. Peterborough City Council is proposing reducing is Children’s Services budget of £37m by £3.6m. This includes making £736,000 savings in services that were funded by the Area Based Grant (including careers advice and teenage pregnancy programmes) and £400,000 savings in restructuring the 8 to 19 year-olds service, which works with vulnerable young people. Warwickshire County Council is cutting the whole of the Youth Service and the Positive About Young People partnership, and reducing funding for Connexions.
