Big Society Bank part 2

Nick Hurd MP, Minister for Civil Society, has told Civil Society magazine that he wanted to “clarify” Tim Loughton’s remark about the Big Society Bank’s priorities. Loughton, Minister for Children and Families, said at NCVYS’s annual conference that the primary objective of the Bank should be youth. However, Hurd said the Bank would be independent of government, so the government would not be able to direct it to spend a certain proportion on youth projects. But he did say there would be a “high policy direction” from government that the Bank should “give some priority to investing in community-led enterprise solutions in the youth sector”.
